lobha ha-ila yavanera mudrā dekhiyā
rātre gaṅgā-pāra kaila dāḍukā kāṭiyā

Synonyms

lobha ha-ila—there was attraction for the money; yavanera—of the meat-eater; mudrā dekhiyā—seeing the golden coins; rātre—at night; ganga-para kaila—he got him across the Ganges; dāḍukā—shackles; kāṭiyā—breaking. 

Translation

When the meat-eater saw the coins, he was attracted to them. He then agreed, and that night he cut Sanātana’s shackles and let him cross the Ganges.
